In Chas Legge’s senior year his rugby team went to the state championship. As the last seconds of the game ticked away, Legge felt the pressure set in. “We were down,” he remembers. “We stole the ball and I scored.”
Today Legge is one of the two new additions to our physical education department at U-32. He’ll be taking over for Molly Butts, teaching 9th grade PE classes.
Chas grew up in Lyndonville, VT with his dad and twin brother. He had a love for sports from a very young age. He played soccer and baseball in elementary school. In high school, he spent his falls on the football field, his winters doing indoor track and his springs playing rugby. Chas brought home three state titles during his senior year at Essex High School.
Chas’ favorite teacher was his Phys. Ed teacher and football coach. He kept P.E. class fun for everyone, which inspired Chas.
After high school, Chas went on to get his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education science and his Associate’s degree in athletic coaching at what’s now called Northern Vermont University in Lyndon.
Chas spends most afternoons coaching the football team at Milton. He likes to spend his time golfing and with family and friends. Chas is excited to teach ultimate frisbee this year.
